Jonsson to Portray Prince T’Challa II, The Son of the Original Black Panther

Marvel Studios has officially cast David Jonsson as the new Black Panther in Black Panther 3, which is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on Dec 15, 2028.

Jonsson will portray Prince T’Challa II, the son of the original Black Panther, T’Challa, who was first introduced as a young child at the end of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Ryan Coogler returns to direct the third chapter of the acclaimed superhero franchise. Letitia Wright will reprise her role as Shuri, while Winston Duke returns as M’Baku. The casting announcement was unveiled during Marvel Studios’ Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con.

Continuing Chadwick Boseman’s Legacy

Following the passing of Chadwick Boseman in 2020, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever honoured both the actor and his iconic character by passing the Black Panther mantle to Shuri. The film also revealed that T’Challa and Nakia had a son, Prince T’Challa II, setting the stage for the future of Wakanda.

The original Black Panther became a global phenomenon upon its release in 2018, earning more than USD1.3 billion worldwide. It made history as the first superhero film to receive a Best Picture nomination at the Academy Awards and won three Oscars for Costume Design, Production Design, and Original Score.
