TLDR: Disney’s planned live-action and CGI hybrid remake of Robin Hood has officially been cancelled.

Director Carlos López Estrada confirmed the news, revealing that the project—first announced in April 2020 for Disney+—will no longer move forward.
Estrada expressed disappointment over the cancellation, noting that the team had planned something “really special and original” for the adaptation.
Fortunately, one thing that is not cancelled is TGV’s World of Wonders, where you will get to see friends of Robin Hood frolicking around a world of fun and dreams!
Initial Plans for The Robin Hood Live Action Movie
The cancelled project was intended to be a photorealistic musical adaptation combining live-action filmmaking with advanced CGI animation.
The screenplay was written by Kari Granlund, who previously worked on Disney’s 2019 live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp.
According to Estrada, the creative team had already developed music for the film that he described as “truly extraordinary.”
Reasons Why The Robin Hood Live Action Movie Was Cancelled
The cancellation appears to be tied to Disney’s shifting content strategy.
In recent years, the studio has begun scaling back projects designed exclusively for Disney+ as it refocuses on theatrical releases for its biggest intellectual properties.
Disney CEO Bob Iger previously acknowledged that the company had placed too much emphasis on producing a high volume of streaming content rather than prioritising quality and theatrical impact.
